Maneuvering During Slow Flight
To determine the applicant exhibits satisfactory knowledge, risk management, and skills associated with maneuvering during slow flight in cruise configuration. Note: See Appendix 2: Safety of Flight and Appendix 3: Aircraft, Equipment, and Operational Requirements & Limitations for information related to this Task.
Bottom line
The objective of maneuvering in slow flight is to develop the pilot's ability to fly at low speeds and high angles of attack. During slow flight, any further increase in angle of attack, increase in load factor, or reduction in power will result in a stall warning, and pilots should react to and correct for any stall indication. In slow flight there is a degraded response to control inputs and it is more difficult to maintain a selected altitude.
