Comply with recommended traffic pattern procedures.
Comply with recommended traffic pattern procedures.
Bottom line
Unless otherwise indicated, all turns in the traffic pattern must be made to the left, except for helicopters, as applicable. The preferred method for entering a nontowered airport traffic pattern from the downwind side is to approach the pattern on a course 45 degrees to the downwind leg and join the pattern at midfield. Maintain pattern altitude until abeam the approach end of the landing runway on downwind leg.
