Configure the airplane in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance.
Bottom line
Before takeoff, avionics are set with the appropriate frequencies, initial navigation sources and courses, autopilot preselects, transponder codes, and other settings and configurations based on the airplane's equipment and flight requirements. A definite climb should be established before the pilot retracts the landing gear or flaps. Under no circumstances should a flap setting given in the AFM/POH be exceeded for takeoff.
