Emergency Descent
To determine the applicant understands emergency descent, can apply that knowledge, manage associated risks, demonstrate appropriate skills, and provide effective instruction. Note: See Appendix 2: Safety of Flight.
Bottom line
In general, emergency descent procedures are high drag, high airspeed procedures requiring a specific airplane configuration and a specific emergency descent airspeed. In an emergency descent, the pilot should not allow the airplane's airspeed to pass VNE, VLE, or VFE, as applicable.
