Configure the airplane in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidance after a positive rate of climb has been verified.
Bottom line
If flaps were extended for takeoff, they should be retracted as recommended in the AFM/POH. With sufficient airspeed, the flaps should be retracted from full to an intermediate position and the landing gear retracted when there is a positive rate of climb and no chance of runway contact. A sudden and complete retraction of the flaps could cause a loss of lift resulting in the airplane settling into the ground.
