Bottom line

At nontowered airports, pilots should announce their intentions on the common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF) assigned to that airport. Enter pattern in level flight, abeam the midpoint of the runway, at pattern altitude. Complete turn to final at least 1/4 mile from the runway.
