American Airlines and Google Sign Record SAFc Agreement
Large corporate SAFc offtakes are one of the few demand signals pulling SAF production forward, which over time affects fuel availability and pricing across the fleets pilots fly.
American Airlines and Google announced on June 9, 2026 a record-breaking sustainable aviation fuel certificate (SAFc) agreement — the largest publicly announced SAFc deal between an airline and a single corporate customer to date. The agreement covers 35 million gallons (132 million liters) of SAF over three years and is projected to deliver roughly 300,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent emissions reductions. The deal leverages U.S. SAF tax credits and demonstrates corporate demand through the book-and-claim certificate model, in which a corporate buyer funds SAF use without taking physical delivery of the fuel.
