FAA AD: Dassault Falcon 7X Slat Failure Went Un-Annunciated
Silent flight-control failures are among the most insidious threats in automated cockpits. The revised AFM workaround is worth understanding even if you don't fly the 7X.
The FAA adopted a new AD for certain Dassault Falcon 7X airplanes after a report of a failed inboard slat extension during landing that the crew alerting system did not indicate to the crew. The directive requires modifying the maintenance and avionics interface computer (MAIC) software and revising the airplane flight manual to provide improved procedures for slat failures. This is a flight-control surface malfunction that occurred without cockpit annunciation, leaving the crew no automated cue that the slats had not deployed as commanded.
