After Landing, Parking, and Securing (ASEL, AMEL)

ACS task objective

To determine the applicant exhibits satisfactory knowledge, risk management, and skills associated with after landing, parking, and securing procedures.

Bottom line

A flight is not complete until the engine is shut down and the airplane is secured, and the pilot should consider this an essential part of any flight. The pilot should always use the procedures in the airplane's AFM/POH shutdown checklist for shutting down the engine and securing the airplane.
