Night currency versus proficiency.

ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Night currency versus proficiency.

Bottom line

If a pilot's required currency events occurred five months ago, the pilot may lack the proficiency to make the flight safely. Pilots can track night hours and night landings in a certification, training, and experience summary and use that information to set personal minimums. Do not fly into dusk or darkness unless proficient in the use of flight instruments.
