Recognize the airplane’s performance capabilities. If a climb is not possible at VYSE, maintain VYSE and return to the departure airport for landing, or initiate an approach to the most suitable landing area available.
Bottom line
The greatest hazard in an OEI takeoff is attempting to fly when it is not within the performance capability of the airplane to do so. With loss of an engine, it is paramount to maintain airplane control and comply with the manufacturer’s recommended emergency procedures. When operating above the airplane's single-engine ceiling, Vyse will deliver the least possible rate of sink (driftdown).
