Configuring the airplane.

ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Configuring the airplane.

Bottom line

Drag from a windmilling propeller, extended landing gear, flaps extended beyond optimum, or any sideslip will reduce or even eliminate any modest single-engine performance that may exist. Until feathered, the propeller of the failed engine is windmilling, producing a great deal of drag and yawing tendency. The actions listed in the “Engine Failure After Takeoff ” checklist in this pamphlet should be promptly executed to configure the airplane for climb with minimum drag.
