a. Crosswind
Effects of: a. Crosswind
Bottom line
A crosswind that exceeds the aircraft's demonstrated maximum crosswind component or the pilot's ability may result in loss of control on the ground. A common error with forward slips to a landing is a slip in the same direction as any crosswind. Proper control position, with ailerons into the wind, is essential for maintaining runway alignment.
