Select and aim for a suitable touchdown point considering the wind conditions, landing surface, and obstructions.
Bottom line
Wind direction and speed must be weighed along with the surface conditions of the water. A seaplane pilot needs to be able to read wind direction and speed from the water itself. It may be better to level off just above the water surface and increase power to maintain a flat attitude until conditions appear more acceptable, then reduce power to touch down.
