a. Crosswind
Effects of: a. Crosswind
Bottom line
A crosswind that exceeds the aircraft's demonstrated maximum crosswind component or the pilot's ability may result in loss of control on the ground (LOC-G). With flaps extended near the ground, wind striking the deflected flap tends to yaw the airplane into the wind and raise the upwind wing. Proper control position (ailerons into the wind) is essential for maintaining runway alignment.
