Distractions, task prioritization, loss of situational awareness, or disorientation.
Distractions, task prioritization, loss of situational awareness, or disorientation.
Bottom line
When a pilot becomes task saturated, there is no awareness of input from various sources, so decisions may be made on incomplete information and the possibility of error increases. Pilots should be alert to a loss of situational awareness anytime they are in a reactive mindset. To regain situational awareness, reassess the situation and seek additional information from other sources, such as the navigation instruments or ATC.
