Interpretation, operation, and limitations of pitch, bank, and power instruments.
Interpretation, operation, and limitations of pitch, bank, and power instruments.
Bottom line
The attitude indicator is reliable and the most realistic flight instrument on the panel, with indications that are very close approximations of the actual aircraft attitude. The pitch and bank limits of an attitude indicator depend on the make and model of the instrument.
Key numbers
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| 100° to 110° (some attitude indicators) | AI bank limits |
| 60° to 70° (some attitude indicators) | AI pitch limits |
| approximately 55° pitch and 55° bank (some heading indicators in light aircraft) | HI limits |
| approximately every 15 minutes | HI check |
