Aircraft Systems Related to Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) Operations
To determine the applicant exhibits satisfactory knowledge, risk management, and skills associated with anti-icing or deicing systems, and other systems related to IFR flight.
Bottom line
Anti-icing equipment is designed to prevent the formation of ice, while deicing equipment is designed to remove ice once it has formed. The presence of anti-icing and deicing equipment, even though it may appear elaborate and complete, does not necessarily mean that the airplane is approved for flight in icing conditions. Anti-icing and deicing equipment are not intended to sustain long-term flight in icing conditions.
