Factors leading to an accelerated stall and preventive actions.
Factors leading to an accelerated stall and preventive actions.
Bottom line
Abrupt pull ups at high diving speeds may impose critical loads on aircraft structures and may produce recurrent or secondary stalls by increasing the AOA to that of stalling. When the airplane reaches the stall warning, the recovery is made first by reducing the AOA until the stall warning is eliminated.
Key numbers
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| Stalling speed increases by approximately one-half at a bank of approximately 63° | Bank vs stall speed |
| Significant beyond approximately 45° of bank | Load factors build |
| Not to exceed 2 or 2.5 Gs with a gradual pull up | Recovery load |
| Confine to speeds below maneuvering speed | Full controls |
