d. Accelerated stalls
Aerodynamics associated with chandelles, including: d. Accelerated stalls
Bottom line
An airplane can stall at a higher indicated airspeed when subject to an acceleration greater than +1G, such as when turning, pulling up, or other abrupt changes in flightpath.
Key numbers
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| Any time G-load exceeds +1G | Accelerated stall |
| Greater than 2 Gs reduces altitude gain | Chandelle pull-up |
| Approximately 45° | Practice bank |
| Near design maneuvering speed | Entry speed |
