ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Effects of: b. Windshear

Bottom line

Wind shear is a sudden, drastic shift in wind speed, direction, or both, and it may occur in the horizontal or vertical plane. Ground obstructions such as buildings, mountains, bluffs, or canyons can create wind gusts that change rapidly in direction and speed. It is especially important to be vigilant when flying in or out of airports that have large buildings or natural obstructions located near the runway.
