Passenger distractions.

ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Passenger distractions.

Bottom line

A contributing factor in many accidents is a distraction that diverts the pilot's attention from monitoring the instruments or scanning outside the aircraft. Passengers can help watch for traffic and may be able to provide information in an irregular situation, especially if they are familiar with flying. The PIC should brief passengers before the flight to make sure that they are comfortable voicing any concerns.
