Pilot.

ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Pilot.

Bottom line

Often, pilots thoroughly check their aircraft to determine airworthiness, yet do not evaluate their own fitness for flight. A pilot must continually make decisions about competency, condition of health, mental and emotional state, level of fatigue, and many other variables. Setting personal minimums is an important step in mitigating risk, and safe pilots know how to properly self-assess.
