j. Deicing and anti-icing
Airplane systems, including: j. Deicing and anti-icing
Bottom line
Anti-icing equipment prevents ice from forming, while deicing equipment removes ice that has already formed. Having anti-icing and deicing equipment installed does not necessarily mean the airplane is approved for flight in icing conditions. Most light aircraft have only a heated pitot tube and are not certified for flight in icing.
