Effect of environmental elements on airplane performance related to power-on stalls (e.g., turbulence, microbursts, and high-density altitude).
Bottom line
High density altitude, the combination of high temperature and high elevation, affects aircraft performance including takeoffs, climbs, and landings. A microburst can produce headwind losses of 30–90 knots, seriously degrading performance. When practicing power-on approach to stall, other specified reduced power settings may be used to simulate performance at higher gross weights and density altitudes.
