ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Use runway incursion avoidance procedures, if applicable.

Bottom line

Flight crews use airport lighting, markings, and signs to help maintain situational awareness. Overlooking airport lighting, markings, and sign information can lead to ground accidents that are entirely preventable. Controllable stop bar lights consist of a row of red, unidirectional, in-pavement lights that can be controlled by ATC, and they prevent runway incursions during takeoff operations.
