Pilot/controller responsibilities, communication procedures, and ATC services available...
Pilot/controller responsibilities, communication procedures, and ATC services available to pilots.
Bottom line
When departing a Class D primary airport or a satellite airport with an operating control tower, you must establish and maintain two-way radio communications with the control tower. At any airport with an operating control tower, you may not operate on a runway or taxiway, or take off or land, without an appropriate clearance from ATC. If you lose RNAV capability on a departure, you must notify ATC of the loss together with your proposed course of action.
