Confirm takeoff power and proper engine and flight instrument indications prior to rotation making callouts, as appropriate, for the airplane or per the operator’s procedures.

Bottom line

After releasing the brakes, the pilot should advance the throttle smoothly and continuously to takeoff power. Check the engine instruments for indications of a malfunction during the takeoff roll.
