ACS element text (the applicant demonstrates understanding of)

Execute a stall recovery in accordance with procedures set forth in the Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH)/Flight Manual (FM).

Bottom line

The most important stall recovery step is to reduce the angle of attack (AOA). Reducing AOA is the proper way to recover from a stall event, and reducing the airplane's AOA will normally result in altitude loss. Establishing the appropriate AOA takes precedence over roll control for positive recovery from the stall event.
