Energy management.
Energy management.
Bottom line
The energy state of an airplane is the balance between airspeed, altitude, drag, and thrust and represents how efficiently the airfoil is operating. How the airplane gets in a high- or low-energy state and the input options available to change the energy state to a stable and safe state.
Key numbers
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| KE proportional to square of velocity (airspeed) | KE vs speed |
| PE proportional to height (altitude) | PE vs height |
| Both KE and PE proportional to mass | Mass effect |
