Interpret weather information, apply principles of aeronautical decision-making, and use a Flight Risk Assessment Tool, if available.
Bottom line
Pilot briefings are the gathering and translation of weather and aeronautical information into a form usable by the pilot to assist in flight planning and decision making. Review forecast information that will affect the proposed flight, such as GFAs, TAFs, prognosis charts, and weather advisories, in a logical order of climbout, en route, and descent. A flight risk assessment tool (FRAT) is a way to record and analyze identified hazards and risks.
