c. Climb performance
How to determine the following, as applicable to the class sought: c. Climb performance
Bottom line
For a turbine-engine-powered airplane, climb performance with two critical engines inoperative may be shown by calculations based on, and equal in accuracy to, the results of testing. During runup, takeoff, and initial climb, follow the procedures in the AFM, particularly the manufacturer's recommended power settings and airspeeds, to avoid overboosting the engine.
Key numbers
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not less than 1.2 percent at the end of the takeoff path with two critical engines inoperative, for a turbine-engine airplane with one engine inoperative | Final takeoff climb gradient |
